Today I am lucky enough to have the pleasure of Amy's MacBook to post on so I thought this would be the best time to do some typing and talk about Cadbury World. I know I have dropped little bits and bobs in odd posts but I really want to do something proper about it.
First things first - I would definitely recommend going. I drove up there which was about.. 160 miles and it was very much worth it. You could do it in a day if you wanted or stay at a hotel like we did just because.. But just get there somehow. It was very interesting finding out about all of the history behind Cadbury, for example, how chocolate used to be considered an equal to alcohol and drugs so selling it was frowned upon. The first bit is like little exhibits and movies before you get into the actual factory. Once in there you can't take any pictures which is fair enough.. There was this little ride you go on which has all these little coco beans doing stuff which was pretty cute. Theres a black light tunnel at the end of it which makes your clothes look awesome if you're wearing some luminous things.
The factory had some pretty cool stuff, for the amount of room they had it was surprising how little machinery there was but.. There were facts dotted around. Like it takes 45 minutes to cool a chocolate bar so it stays nicely shaped. They gave out little pots of melted chocolate which is just nummy. I would think it would be quite awkward to be one of the chefs - chefs? - there because while they are working.. They're all on show. Behind glass. Like a zoo. You could see them decorating stuff which they sold in the shop. As most places do, you exit into the gift shop after walking around the only difference was that you actually wanted to buy stuff. We ended up spending about £25 in all. It was all pretty cheap compared to shop prices obviously because they could probably just carry it there rather than sticking it on a lorry.. That also got us the free teddy bear.
There was a little extra bit outside called Essence where you could go. It had a little video showing how they made the discovery of milk chocolate.. Kind of. It was a fake dramatisation to be fair. At the end you got to pick one of the sweets on the wall and they would cover it in melted chocolate. You could choose from white chocolate buttons, jelly babies, rice crispies and wine gums. I had jelly babies and that worked pretty well. Amy went for white chocolate buttons which was interesting but didn't work for me. They also his a bit called the Bourneville experience which was just a museum of stuff from the original owner.. Yeah.
The area around the factory was all build by Cadbury and was really lovely and had trees everywhere and green areas and huge gardens. It was just a really nice place.
Now why aren't you going there?
Thanks for reading people. There'll most definitely be a post about Harry Potter Studios at some point. So excited! Blog you later.
Day 51
Today for tea, we went to Pizza Hut to use our 2 for 1 offer which you get from filling in a little question from the link on the bill. So we got our usual.. Twice. Now we just have this lovely thing sitting at home waiting to be devoured for breakfast. Cold pizza for breakfast is one of the best things ever. Someone needs to make a place where they sell cold pizza in the morning and warm pizza at night. It would taste so good. And do so well. Business plan made.
