Pinch Punch..

First day of the month. I didn't do that to anyone today.. And don't do it now because it's bad luck after midday. No one wants bad luck - depending on if you believe in luck. I personally don't because stuff just happens. Tangent.

X Factor is back on! I only started watching it last year with Amy and I must say, I found myself getting quite into it. When I was at school everyone would always be talking about it around me and I sort of just nodded and grunted because I honestly had no clue what they were on about. Until they got the Christmas number 1 like most years but.. Yeah, I watched it last year and I very much enjoyed it. James Arthur was my favourite so I'm glad he won but I haven't heard anything else from him other than his winning single. This year one of the teachers from my old school has apparently entered, I do believe it because she was a fantastic singer. I'm also pretty sure I recognise her from the advert thats on.. The auditions are the best because you get all the bad ones mixed in and they are just so hilarious. Especially when Sharon Osbourne reacted to the 20 year old student singing Air Hostess at the line 'I messed my pants.' Good TV encourages you to save money on a Saturday night.

I understand that Saturday is the night to go out but surely the awkwardness of going out to eat in a packed restaurant with a load of strangers with no guarantee of a table unless you book, and the expectation of a tip for being served on a Saturday night - h'meh about covers it. Not worth it. I know you'll be more tired to go out during the week but it is so much more lovely. Plus you'll make the waiters/waitresses night by giving them something to do other than endlessly clean.

Amy baked some little confetti cup cakes today, they were pretty cute. And tasty. Don't forget the part about them being tasty. The pack came with this little multicoloured sugar disks with you scatter on time of the icing and in the original cake mix so that when they bake, they sort of caramelise and stain the cake. Makes them look colourful when you bite into them. Wuha.

So, Xbox has jumped on the band wagon of offering free games to gold users - about time. At the moment they are offering Magic the Gathering 2013 which I downloaded because it looked pretty interesting and I've always liked the artwork on the cards. I've never collected the physical cards but I've seen them around. It's just a shame when you go to download it they show that they've just released the 2014 version. I know they can't offer that for free but it just makes them seem a little cheap - ha look we've got this new one to make money from, have this old one. Just my thoughts. It was quite confusing at first but once you get used to it, it is quite enjoyable. There are multiple decks to unlock and then special cards to get, a campaign, multiplayer and challenges which appear to only have a few solutions. Good fun. And free. And some gamerscore to boot.

I'm finally making more use of my LoveFilm account as I have started watching Dexter. I've heard a lot about it and so far I am impressed with it. The story is - for those of you who don't know - Dexter works for the police in forensics specialising in blood spatters and patterns. Blood is his life. He is also a serial killer himself, trained by his dad to cover his tracks. But he only kills 'bad' people, like murderers and drunk drivers who kill people with no remorse. I'm about 3 episodes in and it is very good because you get this running monologue in his head which you hear and even though he is a character in the TV show - it very insightful. Makes you think about the conventions we consider normal even though thinking about it.. They're really quite strange. I also watched Prince of Persia on LoveFilm and that was quite shockingly bad.

This post has been a bit mish mashy I must admit but I just felt like typing whatever came into my mind. Bits and bobs. This and that. First time in a while I haven't mentioned any food! Blog you later.

Day 63
It's actually a picture of me and Amy today. We were messing around with the Photobooth thing on her Mac and there was this effect. My nose is really red in it. I always notice it and I find it strange. The picture is cool but I'm quite impressed with the fact the camera can recognise where the top of your head is!
